Ukraine to Produce Sitcom Based on Carol’s Second Act

The TV channel Ukraine has commenced production on the comedy series Liusya the Intern, based on the American format Carol’s Second Act.

In Liusya the Intern, after 30 years of married life, Liusya Zhuk’s husband leaves her for a young mistress. Lisuya takes the opportunity to make her old dream come true and returns to medicine with an internship at the city clinic. Carol’s Second Act is distributed by ViacomCBS Global Distribution Group.

Liusya the Intern is directed by Maksym Lytvynov and Vira Yakovenko. Tele Pro are producing the series for Ukraine. The U.S. format, Carol’s Second Act, was produced by CBS Studios.

Dariya Deynichenko, creative producer of the project, said: “Liusya Zhuk deliberately leaves her comfort bubble and regularly gets into hilarious situations. However, Liusya’s strength and uniqueness are in the fact that she never gives up and always fights to the end. We’re sure our viewers will love Liusya and they’ll gladly watch her adventures, her formation and, of course, the events in her personal life.”

Deynichenko added: “We’d like to show that age is nothing if you have a goal in life. It’s never too late to start something new. We’re 100 percent sure of that and we’d like to inspire our viewers to not be afraid to make their dreams come true!”
