Two More Seasons of Coach Trip for E4

LONDON: E4 has commissioned two additional seasons of Coach Trip from ITV Studios-owned 12 Yard Productions.

The first of the two new seasons, Coach Trip: Road to Marbs, will begin airing next year. It will see tour guide Brendan lead young Brits on a voyage of discovery across Europe, with all of them hoping to reach the end of the road to win a luxury holiday. The participants will have to remain popular to stay on the trip, as unpopular couples are voted off and replaced by new ones.

The show is executive produced by Matt Walton and Ben Stevens. The double order follows an initial recommission of the show earlier this year when Coach Trip: Road to Ibiza aired on E4 in the 7:30 p.m. slot. The Coach Trip format has reached six territories, including Germany, France and Turkey.

Coach Trip’s successful transfer to peak after a decade in daytime has seen it find a brand new audience,” said Walton. “With the show due to break the 500-episode mark next summer, it proves that a good, solid format can have enduring popularity.”

Jonny Rothery, who commissioned the series for E4, commented, “Seeing the show refreshed for the E4 audience has been a joy to watch. Brendan’s revamped coach won a legion of new fans in its new peak time slot and we’ll be keeping the show on the road with two new series in 2017.”

Founded in 2001 by the creative team behind the global hit The Weakest Link, 12 Yard has produced formats such as the BBC’s long-running daytime quiz Eggheads, BBC One lottery formats In It to Win It and Who Dares Wins, and Big Star’s Little Star for ITV.
