TV Asahi Unveils MIPCOM 2016 Highlights

TOKYO: Japanese media company and broadcaster TV Asahi is slated to showcase the new formats Hide-and-Seek with Drones and Pentagon Derby at next month’s market.

Hide-and-Seek with Drones is a game show in which challengers must hunt for hidden treasure while escaping drones that are trying to ambush them. Pentagon Derby looks on as five people sit in a pentagon and test their knowledge of each other.

TV Asahi is also presenting Ranking the Stars, a talk-show format; Beat the Champions, a sports-entertainment format; and 31-Legged Race, a running competition for kids. Other highlights include the fourth season of the medical drama Doctor-X; the fourth season of the new version of Ninja Hattori; and the hit animations Doraemon and Shin chan.

Yuka Kakui, TV Asahi’s head of format development and sales, said: “TV Asahi’s entertainment programs are compellingly unique and achieve high audience ratings in Japan. Many of our ideas have great potential to travel well and we are actively looking for co-development opportunities with international partners.”

Satoko Shimbori, the director of TV Asahi’s international business department, added: ”We look forward to increasing our presence in co-producing content with global partners, getting involved from the development phase through the distribution stage.”
