All3Media International has signed an agreement with Luyworks Media and Something Special for an adaptation of The Traitors for the Korean market.

The Korean iteration of the hit format joins the recently announced versions in India and Ireland, bringing the total number of adaptations to more than 30.

Since its debut in the Netherlands on RTL 4 in 2021, the format has found success globally. The second season of NBCUniversal’s U.S. version won Emmys for outstanding reality competition and outstanding host for a reality competition program. BBC One’s BAFTA-winning U.K. version drew in 8 million viewers for the season two finale earlier this year. The Dutch version (De Verraders) received the Rose d’Award award for best reality and factual entertainment.

The Traitors was originally created and developed by Marc Pos and Jasper Hoogendoorn, creative director of IDTV, in cooperation with RTL Creative Unit.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with Luyworks Media and Something Special to bring The Traitors to Korean audiences,” said Ziran (Tony) Tang, VP of sales for Asia at All3Media International. “The Traitors is a phenomenal format in the industry, with over 30 versions worldwide. We’re excited to see it take shape in Korea—one of the most competitive markets for formats. We are confident that we will deliver a high-quality local version to Korean viewers.”

Tang continued, “Both of our partners have outstanding track records. Luyworks Media, having produced hits like Physical 100, Street Woman Fighter and Show Me The Money, will lead production of the Korean version, while Something Special brings invaluable expertise in adapting international formats to local audiences. This partnership reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering top-tier local content, and we can’t wait to see how The Traitors evolves in Korea’s vibrant entertainment landscape.”

“We are very excited to be producing the Korean version of The Traitors, possibly the most beloved format around the world,” commented Yul Han, CEO of Luyworks Media. “We want to produce the favorite series not only for Korea, but for the whole of Asia.”

Jin Woo Hwang, president of Something Special, added, “Something Special has always been the key bridge and developer of connecting international formats with the best Korean talent. Delivering phenomenal shows in the unscripted scene, Luyworks Media is definitely the best-in-class production company for the Korean version of The Traitors.”
