RTÉ2 Orders Relationship Format Then Comes Marriage?

DUBLIN/LONDON: RTÉ2 has commissioned Independent Pictures’s Then Comes Marriage?, a factual-entertainment show that was a Format Farm submission.

Then Comes Marriage? looks on as three engaged couples take a relationship-skills crash course at a luxury country house, where they discuss such topics as finances, intimacy, conflict management and family. The 6×60-minute show first aired as a pilot under last year’s Format Farm creative-incubator initiative. It is distributed by Warner Bros. International Television Productions (WBITP).

Michelle Spillane, the director of RTÉ Global, commented: “Then Comes Marriage? is a great example of the sort of show that Format Farm was set up to encourage. It’s fun, it’s quirky and yet it has real heart and offers real help to its participants. It’s also an example of Format Farm’s effectiveness when it comes to converting Irish creativity into international business. By offering major distributors the chance to part-fund brilliant ideas that have proved themselves in front of RTÉ’s discerning audience, it offers Irish producers an excellent opportunity to take their talent out to [the] world.”

Conor Moloney, the managing director of Independent Pictures, added: “We are thrilled to see the Format Farm pilot process following through to series commission and look forward to delivering a compelling series that will succeed for RTÉ2 and our distribution partners, Warner Bros.”
