The first production of Media Ranch’s paper format Watch! is being made by Talpa Germany to premiere on ProSieben on July 21.

The German version of Watch! will feature two celebrity players per team who will play for charity, pitting the two teams against one another and testing their memory skills after witnessing a live variety act. German comedy presenter, actor and writer Ruth Moschner, who has also been a judge on shows such as Germany’s Got Talent and The Masked Singer Germany, will host.

Three episodes of 105 minutes are being shot, starting this month in Germany. The studio is employing all COVID-19 safety precautions, and Media Ranch has developed quick-turnaround variations for the production. Watch! is titled Wer sieht das den?! for the German edition.

Sophie Ferron, president and executive producer at Media Ranch, said: “We are beyond thrilled that the first production our hottest format ever, Watch!, will be completed and on-air this summer on ProSieben, especially with the COVID-19 crisis. Watch! has sold extremely well, 12 major territories in just a few months. It is such a fun show and viewers are craving great new programming this summer. On a personal note, in these challenging times, we are happy to be able to count on great relationships with strong partners like Talpa Germany and ProSieben—it truly takes a village.  We are fortunate to bring this paper format to reality, and we wish the same for our industry colleagues.”

Karsten Röder, managing director of Talpa Germany, said: “I’m delighted [to be] teaming up with Media Ranch on this fun and hugely entertaining variety format, which is perfect for family viewing with its combination of quiz elements, live acts and celebrity items. Media Ranch is a fantastic partner and together we believe that Watch! has absolute hit potential.”

Daniel Rosemann, managing director of ProSieben, said: “Expect the unexpected is a suitable term for Wer sieht das denn?! as well as for ProSieben. Therefore, ProSieben is the perfect match to be the first channel worldwide to produce this show.”
