ITV Studios’ Meet the Parents Heads to Germany

LONDON: ITV Studios Germany has been commissioned to produce six episodes of the new dating format Meet the Parents for RTL.

Meet the Parents sees a single woman question the parents of five men, with the goal of finding the perfect romantic partner. The original version is being produced by ITV Studios for ITV. Production on the German version is slated to begin later this year.

ITV Studios will be presenting Meet the Parents at MIPCOM alongside The Job Interview, a Force Four format that was recently optioned in Canada. Other highlights include the new formats Cash Trapped, The Letter, Celebrity Home Secrets, My Dog, Your Dog, Yes Chef, Youtubers, Top Class and What You Don’t Wanna Know, as well as the returning hits The Chase, I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, Come Dine with Me, Hell’s Kitchen and Love Island.

There is also 5 Gold Rings, a new game show developed by ITV Studios’s Possessed and Talpa that will be launched by Talpa Global at the market.

Mike Beale, the executive VP of global development and formats at ITV Studios (ITVS), said: “We’ve got a really nice mix of formats to introduce to buyers this autumn—our range spans studio-based shiny floor, quiz, location and fixed rig. It’s a great illustration of our portfolio approach; we believe we have something for everyone, across the whole spectrum of budgets.

“Amongst this mix is the brilliant Meet the Parents, which is funny, touching and surprising with a warm tone, which so many networks are looking for now. It’s testament to the strength of our creative teams across the ITVS family that two of our shows have already been picked up.”
