FOX Picks Up Flirty Dancing

FOX is doing a U.S. adaptation of the U.K. series Flirty Dancing, which sees two complete strangers learn a dance routine and perform it without having met previously.

FOX has added a twist to the original format, with one of the participants getting to dance with two partners before choosing which one they have the strongest connection with.

The FOX version of Flirty Dancing will be produced by Second Star, which produces the original, and all3media America. Second Star, run by Deborah Sargeant, is part of Objective Media Group. Sargeant and Objective Media Group America’s Jilly Pearce will serve as executive producers.

“Flirty Dancing is a dating format with a La La Land twist,” said Sargeant. “In a world where most people find love by clicking through apps, this is a show that offers a more romantic approach to dating—inviting our participants to sweep each other off their feet in amazing performances, rather than swiping left or right. We’re delighted to be partnering with FOX on this ambitious format. We’ll be shooting each dance in a stunning real-world location to really give each of our hopeful singles their Hollywood musical movie moment.”
