FOX LatAm’s Lynch Set for U.S. Treatment on CW

Fox Networks Group Content Distribution has revealed that Lynch, a dark comedy that aired for three seasons on FOX in Latin America, is getting a pilot for The CW in the U.S.

Lynch centered on a funeral home owner who helps people fake their own deaths. It was produced by Fox Telecolombia.

The American pilot will be titled Playing Dead. It is being penned by Rina Mimoun (Mistresses) and Josh Reims (Jane the Virgin), who are also executive producing alongside Tariq Jalil (Operation Repo) and Lucas Carter (Camden). CBS Television Studios is producing in association with Intrigue Entertainment.

Prentiss Fraser, the executive VP and managing director of Fox Networks Group Content Distribution, remarked: “Produced by Fox Telecolombia for FOX channels in Latin America, Lynch was a big ratings hit, so we knew it was only a matter of time before this local gem became of interest to the international market for a remake. The premise is great; it’s like Six Feet Under meets Ray Donovan, and with Rina and Josh on board to write and showrun, and the experience and enthusiasm from Intrigue Entertainment, we are really excited about the potential for this property in the U.S.”
