CJ ENM’s Love at First Song in Development for the U.S.

John Legend’s Get Lifted Film Co., Simon Lythgoe and Critical Content are working on an American adaptation of CJ ENM’s music dating format Love at First Song.

Love at First Song “has the potential to launch the next great duo like Tim & Faith, Sonny & Cher or Jay Z & Beyoncé,” Lythgoe said.

Jihee Kim, creator of Love at First Song and CJ ENM’s head of format development, noted, “Dating and music have always been popular genres. This show has already shown success in Vietnam, and it will surely show competency in Western countries as well.”

The format, which aired on Vietnam’s VTV3 last year, is also set for a Malaysian adaptation, with Media Prima launching its version this month.

CJ ENM has also clinched an option deal with Endemol Shine France for the music competition 300: War of United Voices. Craig Plestis of Smart Dog Media (which brought Korea’s King of Mask Singer to FOX) has the U.S. option on the show.

Meanwhile, Tresor in Germany has optioned I Can See Your Voice, a music format that has already been licensed into nine countries.
