Beat the Bridge, the U.S. version of Bridge of Lies, has landed a home in the U.K. on STV Player.
The U.S. iteration is fronted by model-turned-actor Cameron Mathison (A Merry Christmas Wish, A Kindhearted Christmas). Fifty episodes, which first aired on Game Show Network in the U.S., are available to stream now in the U.K.
The series is co-produced by Game Show Enterprises Studios and STV Studios, based on an original format created by the latter. In the format, an interactive bridge invites players to cross by stepping on the right answers to challenging trivia questions. Each step forward puts money in the team’s bank, with bonus money for each successful crossing. However, the team only gets to keep the money if it can “beat the bridge” by returning one of its players back across before time expires.
“This game is for everybody,” Mathison said. “You can play if you’re an expert in trivia or if you’re not an expert in trivia. And you’re going to be so surprised at the twists and turns and the way things end. People are going to love it.”
Richard Williams, managing director of digital at STV, commented, “Bridge of Lies has been a huge success for the BBC and has amassed a loyal and passionate fan base, so it’s a no-brainer for us to bring the equally brilliant U.S. version of the show over to this side of the pond.”
He continued, “Beat the Bridge is jam-packed with thrilling gameplay, enthusiastic contestants and the fantastic Cameron Mathison very much making the show his own as host. With quiz formats continuing to grow on streaming across the board, STV Player is the perfect home for Beat the Bridge in the U.K.”
