BBC Worldwide Secures First Sale for An Extra Slice Format

LONDON: BBC Worldwide has inked its first format deal for An Extra Slice, as well as a recommission for additional seasons of The Great Bake Off.

NPO in the Netherlands signed on for four seasons of An Extra Slice, which will be known locally as Smaakt Naar Meer. Season one is slated to premiere on September 7. The adaptation will be produced by MAX.

Additionally, the Dutch broadcaster recommissioned four more seasons of The Great Bake Off, known locally as Heel Holland Bakt. Season four is scheduled to debut on September 4. The renewal follows three successful seasons, with the third peaking at 3.2 million viewers. Heel Holland Bakt will be produced by Blue Circle.

Suzanne Kendrick, the head of global format sales at BBC Worldwide, said, “With the fourth season of Heel Holland Bakt starting this weekend in the Netherlands, it is perfect timing to announce yet more international sales of the ever-popular Bake Off format as well as our first sale of its counterpart An Extra Slice. It seems the global appetite for baking shows no signs of relenting as local versions of both formats continue to cause a stir worldwide.”

Jan Slagter, CEO of Omroep MAX, commented, “After three very successful series of Heel Holland Bakt (The Great Bake Off), I am delighted that we can introduce Smaakt Naar Meer (An Extra Slice). With this studio program the whole of Holland is in for a tasty dessert.”
