BBC Studios has created a new U.K. entertainment unit under the leadership of Suzy Lamb as managing director.

The launch of the new production unit follows the merger of BBC Studios’ entertainment and music and factual entertainment and events units. The move is intended to allow for a more focused pipeline taking shows from development to production to international format rollout.

Lamb, who previously served as managing director of BBC Studios’ entertainment and music division, will lead the creative, commercial and operational strategy of the new unit. The U.K. entertainment unit sits with the BBC Studios’ global entertainment business headed up by Matt Forde.

Forde noted: “The global entertainment market continues to evolve at pace and the new U.K. entertainment unit will be the centerpiece of our global entertainment division, driving growth as well as building on the incredible success of its existing titles. I’m excited to see what they will go on to create and deliver under Suzy’s leadership.”

Lamb added: “With a thriving slate already in place and lots of new formats coming through the pipeline it really is an exciting time for BBC Studios.”

Lamb’s team includes Katie Brewer as director of production. She previously held the same role within the factual entertainment and events segment.
