BBC One Orders Remarkable’s All Together Now

BBC One has commissioned for Saturday nights the brand-new entertainment format All Together Now from Remarkable Television, part of Endemol Shine UK.

Hosted by comedian Rob Beckett, each episode sees a range of performers take to the stage to perform in front of “The 100,” an audience of specially cast members of the public who have singing credentials. If any of The 100 like what they hear, they stand up and join in. The greater the number of people that stand up and sing along, the higher the contestant’s score. The six-part series features five hour-long heats, and in the end, two performers progress to the Grand Final for the chance to win a cash prize. It will air in 2018.

The show was commissioned by Charlotte Moore, the director of BBC Content; Kate Phillips, controller of entertainment commissioning; and Rachel Ashdown, commissioning editor for BBC Entertainment. The format was devised by Remarkable Television’s in-house team, led by Creative Director Dom Waugh. The executive producers for Remarkable are James Fox, Waugh and Andrew Cartmell. The series editor is Marc Bassett.

Beckett said: “If, like me, you’re the sort of person who likes to belt out a tune in the shower, then I’m pretty sure this is the show for you…but if you’re the sort of person who likes to belt out a tune in the shower while another hundred people join in…then firstly, how big’s your bathroom? And secondly, this is definitely the show for you!

“In my opinion, All Together Now is going to be the best thing to happen to Saturday night since they invented Sunday morning…and I could not be happier or more excited to be a part of it.”

BBC’s Phillips commented: “All Together Now is the ultimate crowd pleaser with nervous contestants having to do just that, please a very big crowd! With a very opinionated 100 and the brilliant Rob as ringmaster, this will be a unique and very funny Saturday night sing-along.”

Fox, joint managing director at Remarkable Television, added: “This isn’t the search for the next big pop act; instead, we’re looking for performers from all kinds of musical backgrounds and with all levels of experience who think they can give that brilliant performance to get The 100 on their feet and singing along. We can’t wait to bring this uplifting, funny and inspiring new format to Saturday nights on BBC One in 2018.”
