The companies already operate a BritBox streaming platform in the U.S. and Canada.<\/p>\n<p>A formal legal agreement is now in the works, and BBC and ITV said they anticipate other partners to be added.<\/p>\n<p>BritBox would be an original streaming service providing a collection of British box-sets and original series on-demand.<\/p>\n<p>Carolyn McCall, CEO of ITV, commented:\u00a0\u201cI am really pleased that ITV and the BBC are at the concluding stage of discussions to launch a new streaming service.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBritBox will be the home for the best of British creativity\u2014celebrating the best of the past, the best of today and investing in new British originated content in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>BBC Director-General Tony Hall said:\u00a0\u201cI am delighted that the BBC and ITV are working together on something truly special: BritBox. A new streaming service delivering the best homegrown content to the public who love it best. The service will have everything from old favorites to recent shows and brand new commissions.
