{"id":9023,"date":"2019-01-23T10:49:04","date_gmt":"2019-01-23T15:49:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tveurope\/nent-group-acquires-rights-indycar-series\/"},"modified":"2019-01-23T12:19:51","modified_gmt":"2019-01-23T17:19:51","slug":"nent-group-acquires-rights-to-indycar-series","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tveurope\/2019\/01\/23\/nent-group-acquires-rights-to-indycar-series\/","title":{"rendered":"NENT Group Acquires Rights to IndyCar Series"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group) has secured the exclusive Nordic media rights to the NTT IndyCar Series for the next three seasons.<\/p>\n<p>Through 2021, every NTT IndyCar Series race will be shown live on NENT Group\u2019s Viaplay streaming service and Viasat pay-TV channels for viewers in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. Select races will also be available on NENT Group\u2019s free-TV channels. The upcoming 17-race IndyCar season commences in March and includes the Indianapolis 500. Swedish drivers Marcus Ericsson and Felix Rosenqvist will both be competing in the season.<\/p>\n<p>NENT Group also has the exclusive rights to Formula 1, Formula 2, Porsche Supercup, Race of Champions and Formula Renault Eurocup in Denmark, Norway and Sweden and NASCAR and MotoGP across the Nordic region.<\/p>\n<p>Kim Mikkelsen, senior VP and head of sport for NENT Group, said: \u201cNENT Group\u2019s Nordic leadership in motorsport coverage is constantly accelerating, and IndyCar is a fantastic addition. With two top Swedish drivers gearing up for success in some of the world\u2019s most compelling races\u2014including the legendary Indianapolis 500\u2014we\u2019re seeing huge IndyCar interest from our customers. The upcoming IndyCar season will be an incredible ride and shows once again that we continue to invest in unique sports experiences for every fan across the Nordic region.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stephen Starks, IndyCar\u2019s vice president of promoter and media partner relations, commented: \u201cWe are pleased to reach a deal with NENT Group to showcase the NTT IndyCar Series in the Nordics for the next several seasons. This important relationship will allow race fans to follow IndyCar\u2019s championship-caliber drivers, including Marcus Ericsson and Felix Rosenqvist, as they transition to the U.S. with two of the best teams in the sport.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ericsson added: \u201cIt\u2019s fantastic that IndyCar will be available for fans in the Nordic region. NENT Group has broadcast almost my whole career\u2014from Formula 3 in Macau 2009, GP2 and of course my five years in Formula 1.
