Anne Bulford, the BBC\u2019s deputy director-general, has decided to exit the company in the spring to pursue a portfolio of non-executive roles.<\/p>\n

Bulford has been with the BBC since 2013. As deputy director-general, she was responsible for all the finance, HR, legal, risk and technology (design and engineering) functions. In addition, she managed its strategy, marketing and audience activities, as well as served on the board of Children in Need.<\/p>\n

BBC Director-General Tony Hall said: \u201cAnne has been an inspirational leader. She has brought real insight and determination in bringing change to the BBC. Her achievements at the BBC are many\u2014she has ensured the BBC continues to innovate and deliver hugely popular services to the public. She has vastly improved the BBC\u2019s efficiency to industry-leading levels. She has led a transformation in the BBC\u2019s working practices.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnne leaves the BBC a stronger organization than the one she joined six years ago. She has been a first-class colleague and an absolute pleasure to work with. I wish her every success for the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bulford commented: “It\u2019s been an honor to be the first woman deputy director-general of the BBC and I\u2019m proud of what we\u2019ve achieved since 2013. The BBC is an amazing organization, with so many talented people.
