BBC Studios has appointed Ralph Lee as director of content, a newly created role that is responsible for overseeing the creative strategy on the company\u2019s production side.<\/p>\n

Lee\u2019s remit will span BBC Studios Production\u2019s U.K. editorial strategy, working closely with its creative leadership on new idea generation and the building of its development slate, assuring an environment in which creatives can deliver their best work, and taking overall responsibility for production management. He will take up the new role, which reports to CEO Tim Davie, in October.<\/p>\n

Lee has spent the last 15 years in U.K. network commissioning roles, principally at Channel 4, and the previous decade in a range of factual production roles. Most recently, he was interim chief creative officer at Channel 4, having previously served as deputy chief creative officer from 2014 to 2017.<\/p>\n

Lee said: \u201cI am thrilled to be joining BBC Studios at such a key point in its journey, off the back of its commercial debut and recent merger. With depth and richness across multiple genres, BBC Studios already has fantastic creative credentials, and I am looking forward to working with everyone there to realize our future ambitions and take our output from strength to strength.\u201d<\/p>\n
