{"id":8565,"date":"2018-07-12T00:01:00","date_gmt":"2018-07-12T04:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tveurope\/comcast-raises-sky-offer\/"},"modified":"2018-07-12T09:23:37","modified_gmt":"2018-07-12T13:23:37","slug":"comcast-raises-sky-offer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tveurope\/2018\/07\/12\/comcast-raises-sky-offer\/","title":{"rendered":"Comcast Raises Sky Offer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Comcast Corporation has upped its bid to acquire Sky, offering \u00a314.75 per share, for a total value of $34 billion.<\/p>\n<p>The move comes after Fox upped its offer to \u00a314 per Sky share, an increase of 30 percent on the original \u00a310.75 price and an increase of 12 percent on Comcast\u2019s \u00a312.50 offer.\u00a0The price of \u00a314.75 per Sky share represents a premium of approximately 5.4 percent to the latest 21st Century Fox offer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">&#8220;Comcast has long admired Sky and believes it is an outstanding company and a great fit with Comcast,&#8221; the company said in a statement.\u00a0&#8220;Today\u2019s announcement further underscores Comcast\u2019s belief and its commitment to owning Sky.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Commenting on the increased offer, Martin Gilbert, deputy chairman of Sky, said,\u00a0<i>\u201c<\/i>The Independent Committee welcomes this increased offer which presents an attractive premium for Sky shareholders to the current alternative offer for the company.
