It is the company\u2019s first initiative focused on nurturing writers.<\/p>\n<p>Spearheaded by Carnival\u2019s head of development, Jo Strevens; development producer, Tara Cook; and development executive, Claire Daxter, the Collective brings together a group of aspiring talent that includes scriptwriter\u00a0Grace Ofori-Attah\u00a0(<em>In the Long Run<\/em>), screenwriter\u00a0Ben Lewis\u00a0(<em>Psychobitches<\/em>), writer\u00a0Roanne Bardsley<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>(<em>Hollyoaks<\/em>), playwright\u00a0James Fritz\u00a0(<em>Parliament Square<\/em>), and comedy and drama duo\u00a0Matilda Wnek\u00a0and<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Ryan O\u2019Sullivan\u00a0(<em>Other People<\/em>). Carnival aims to create a fresh development slate with the Collective talent.<\/p>\n<p>Gareth Neame, the executive chairman of Carnival Films,\u00a0said, \u201cWe are always seeking to expand our horizons in terms of the best writing talent, and take our responsibility to nurture talent very seriously. \u2018Collective\u2019 is a great way of doing just that and we\u2019re delighted to be working with some of the most exciting, emerging creative voices coming out of the U.K. today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ofori-Attah\u00a0added, \u201cWriting can be a very solitary occupation. Having the opportunity to sit down and discuss your ideas with a group of talented writers, as well as experienced development executives in an open, safe and supportive environment is invaluable.\u00a0The scheme will challenge me to step outside my comfort zone and give me the confidence to really run riot with my ideas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wnek\u00a0and O\u2019Sullivan noted, \u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to participate in a collaborative process with other creatives, as it allows us to explore and interrogate our premise during the early development of our idea.
