RLJ Entertainment has hired Catherine Mackin as the managing director of Acorn Media Enterprises (AME), the U.K.-based development division of Acorn TV.<\/p>\n

In her new role, Mackin will oversee Acorn TV\u2019s commissioning and co-production slate. She will start early this month and will be based in RLJ Entertainment\u2019s London office. Mackin replaces Shane Murphy, who is returning to Dublin as group head of drama and comedy at\u00a0RT\u00c9.<\/p>\n

Mackin joins Acorn Media Enterprises with more than 20 years of programming experience. She spent the last eight years as director of program acquisitions at UKTV. She was also deputy\u00a0director of programming at Ireland’s terrestrial commercial broadcaster TV3, and previously ran channels GOLD and Bravo.<\/p>\n

Mark Stevens, the chief content officer for Acorn brands at RLJ Entertainment, said, \u201cIn the past three years, Shane and his team have established Acorn Media Enterprises as a preferred partner within the production community for high-quality international productions, including co-producing deals for ITV\u2019s\u00a0Girlfriends<\/em>, BBC\u2019s\u00a0Keeping Faith\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Detectorists<\/em>,\u00a0<\/em>as well as our first commissions of\u00a0London Kills\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Agatha Raisin, Series 2.\u00a0<\/em>While we are sorry to see Shane leave, we\u2019re thrilled to continue the upward trajectory of AME with a seamless transition to Catherine Mackin.
