This is 15 percent higher than the intake for the same four packages in the previous rights auction.<\/p>\n<p>Telef\u00f3nica paid \u20ac2.9 billion for its two lots. &#8220;Thanks to these rights, Telef\u00f3nica will continue to count on the widest content offer for the coming years and, in addition, it has reinforced the control over the content that is broadcast on its platform,&#8221; the telco giant said in a statement. &#8220;Telef\u00f3nica\u2019s technological capabilities will allow the company to introduce new improvements to the product in order to increase its appeal to fans.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mediapro also secured two packages of rights domestically. In addition, La Liga renewed its contract with Mediapro for the sale of international audiovisual rights during the next five seasons (2019-20 to 2023-24).
