EDINBURGH\/LONDON: Endemol Shine Group’s Zeppotron has been commissioned by BBC Two to produce the new scripted comedy Nigel Farage Gets His Life Back<\/em>, which pokes fun at the titular British politician.<\/p>\n

Nigel Farage Gets His Life Back<\/em> stars Kevin Bishop (Porridge<\/em>, The Rack Pack<\/em>) as Farage, who, after Britain voted to leave the European Union this summer, resigned as leader of the UK Independence Party (UKIP) so he could get his “life back.” The 30-minute fly-on-the-wall mockumentary portrays both the public and private life of the controversial figure.<\/p>\n

Peter Holmes, the managing director of Zeppotron, said: \u201cThis project couldn\u2019t feel more relevant. Nigel Farage has had a huge part to play in the momentous political events of recent times, and everybody has an opinion of him. We hope we can create a lot of laughter while painting a portrait of such a divisive figure as he fills the empty hours of retirement.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bishop added: \u201cI\u2019m delighted to be playing a character as colorful as Farage. He\u2019s a gift to parody and I\u2019m looking forward to bringing previously unseen aspects of his life to the screen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nigel Farage Gets His Life Back<\/em> was commissioned for BBC Two by Shane Allen, controller of comedy commissioning, and Alex Moody, commissioning editor for BBC Comedy. The mockumentary\u00a0is penned by The Rack Pack<\/em>‘s\u00a0Alan Connor and Shaun Pye.
