LONDON: Lord David Puttnam, an Oscar-winning producer, educationalist and politician, has been lined up to deliver a keynote address on September 11 during this year’s IBC Conference.<\/p>\n
In his speech, Puttnam will discuss such topics\u00a0as the growth of Facebook and YouTube; the impact of technology on creativity; the likely effects of the U.K.’s EU referendum vote on the creative sector; and the media’s role and responsibility in trying to reverse the loss of public trust.<\/p>\n
Puttnam currently serves as chair of Atticus Education. He spent three decades as an independent producer of such award-winning movies as The Mission<\/em>, The Killing Fields<\/em> and Local Hero<\/em>, to name a few. From 1994 to 2004 he was the VP and chair of trustees at BAFTA and secured a BAFTA fellowship in 2006.<\/p>\n Puttnam retired from film production in 1998 to concentrate on his work in public policy for\u00a0education, the environment and the creative and communications industries.
