LONDON: Sony Pictures Television (SPT) has taken a minority stake in the U.K. film and television production company Fable Pictures.<\/p>\n

Fable Pictures is led by Faye Ward, creative director, and Eugenio Perez, managing director. The producer will focus on high-end drama series that can travel internationally, with SPT distributing around the globe. Fable\u2019s current project is the film Stan and Ollie, written by Jeff Pope, directed by Jon S. Baird, and starring Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly.<\/p>\n

Andrea Wong, the president of international production at SPT, said: \u201cWe are increasing our drama footprint in recognition of the rise in demand for international high-quality drama. This will build on the success we are enjoying with series such as Left Bank\u2019s upcoming Netflix drama The Crown<\/em> and The Halcyon<\/em> for ITV, as well as Playmaker\u2019s Love Child<\/em> and award-winning The Code<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cFaye is one of the U.K.’s most promising and ambitious drama producers and we can\u2019t wait to help her achieve her vision for Fable Pictures.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ward said: \u201cWe are delighted to be working with the Sony Pictures Television team. To have their support, knowledge and global expertise invested in our slate is a real boost for our new venture.\u201d<\/p>\n
