\n\tLONDON: MediaGuardian<\/em> has unveiled its annual U.K. media power list, ranking the BBC's Tony Hall<\/a> as the most influential person in British TV, followed by News Corp.'s Rupert Murdoch.<\/p>\n

\n\tHall, the director general of the BBC, ranked fourth overall on the list, but was first in the broadcasting segment. Murdoch, the head of 21st Century Fox and News Corp., was seventh overall, but second in broadcasting.<\/p>\n

\n\tLarry Page, co-founder and chief executive of Google, was number one overall, after having ranked number two in 2013. Mark Zuckerberg, the founder and chief executive of Facebook, was second this year, followed by Apple chief Tim Cook. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos came in at number five, followed by Dick Costolo, the chief executive of Twitter.<\/p>\n

\n\tDanny Cohen, the director of BBC Television, was number 12 on the power list, but third in the broadcast segment. Among the other British TV execs making the list are Jeremy Darroch, the chief executive of Sky and chair of Sky Deutschland (13); Adam Crozier<\/a>, the chief executive of ITV (14); Peter Fincham<\/a>, the director of television at ITV (15); and Rona Fairhead, the chair of the BBC Trust (17).<\/p>\n

\n\tSimon Cowell<\/a> came in at number 18 overall, followed by Sophie Turner Laing, the chief executive of the upcoming Endemol-Shine-CORE venture. Ted Sarandos<\/a>, the chief content officer of Netflix, narrowly missed the top 20, coming in at 21 in the overall U.K. power ranking, followed by Gavin Patterson, the chief executive of BT.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
