LONDON: UKTV has commissioned Crackanory<\/em>, a satirical show featuring Harry Enfield, Jack Dee, Sally Phillips and Richard Hammond, for broadcast on its entertainment channel Dave.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Produced by Tiger Aspect Productions, Crackanory <\/em>will watch as a variety of U.K. personalities take part in comedic storytelling. The 6×40-minute series includes a combination of narrated live action and animation. It is due to debut at the end of the year.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Steve North, the general manager of Dave, commented: "The art of storytelling is far from dead; in fact Dave’s bringing it back bigger and better. Crackanory<\/em> gives it a brand new, contemporary twist, in what could be described as an ingenious adult adaptation of well-loved children’s program Jackanory<\/em>. Weird and wonderful tales delivered by the funniest people on television: Dave viewers are sure to find this a delicious combination."<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Sarah Fraser, c<\/span>ommissioning editor of comedy, said: "I was excited by this bold premise, blending live action and animation to tell these wonderful new stories. It is testament that the idea is a good one in that Tiger Aspect have secured such great names to appear in a first series. Commissioned exclusively for Dave, Crackanory<\/em> is an exciting addition to our growing slate of original, unusual and talent-led content."<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Andy Brereton, executive producer, added: "We hope the Crackanory<\/em> chair becomes as famous as the Mastermind one, as we welcome some of the best storytellers in the country to settle into it and tell viewers some incredibly funny, dark and unique tales."<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
