LONDON: ITV2 has acquired the new U.S. comedy Mom<\/em>, from executive producer Chuck Lorre (The Big Bang Theory<\/em>), along with the past seasons of Lorre’s Two and a Half Men<\/em>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Mom <\/em>stars Anna Faris as a single mother, Christy, whose newly found sobriety has given her a new lease on life, one she doesn’t exactly like. Allison Janney plays Christy’s estranged mother, Bonnie. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

ITV2 also picked up the free-to-air broadcast rights for the first ten seasons of Two and a Half Men<\/em>. The hit U.S. comedy will be available starting in 2014. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Both series were scored from Warner Bros. International Television Distribution. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Angela Jain, <\/span><\/span>ITV’s director of digital channels and acquisitions, said, “Putting quality comedy, both acquired and original on ITV2 is a vital part of the channel’s strategy. Chuck Lorre needs no introduction, he is a comedy genius. With that pedigree, Mom<\/em> was a must-have for us and we hope ITV2 viewers agree that it is a laugh-out loud treat.”<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span>Jeffrey R. Schlesinger, <\/span><\/span>Warner Bros.’ president of worldwide television distribution, added, “Chuck Lorre’s comedies have attracted millions of loyal fans in the U.K., and we believe Mom<\/em> will be the latest to continue that streak. We also know that while new episodes of Two and a Half Men <\/em>continue on another network, it will fuel interest in the classic episodes by both new and long-time fans.”
