LONDON\/NEW YORK: The female-skewing Russian terrestrial broadcaster U Channel has taken on a package of MTV programming that includes the comedic drama Underemployed <\/em>and the reality series 16 & Pregnant<\/em>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The two-year deal marks Viacom International Media Networks’ (VIMN) first syndication pact with a Russian free-to-air broadcaster for MTV branded content. U Channel will be premiering the docu-series I Used to Be Fat<\/em> as well as classic franchises such as Made <\/em>and True Life<\/em>. These will be broadcast in local language to more than 23 million households. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“MTV is the cultural home of the ‘millennial’ generation and widely regarded as a pioneer in creating innovative programming that resonates with young people the world over,” commented Caroline Beaton, the senior VP of international program sales at VIMN. “We’re really looking forward to working with our partners at U Channel on bringing a selection of key titles with a proven track record to Russian terrestrial television, ensuring that a wide audience of fans will have access to MTV’s cutting-edge programming across the country from this summer.”<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
