{"id":4456,"date":"2013-02-05T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2013-02-05T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tveurope\/2013\/02\/05\/content-to-sell-romantic-dramedy-around-the-globe\/"},"modified":"2013-02-05T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2013-02-05T00:00:00","slug":"content-to-sell-romantic-dramedy-around-the-globe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tveurope\/2013\/02\/05\/content-to-sell-romantic-dramedy-around-the-globe\/","title":{"rendered":"Content to Sell Romantic Dramedy Around the Globe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\">LONDON: The international sales rights in all media for <em>Rising Star<\/em>, a romantic comedy\/drama, have been acquired by Content, which is set to showcase the title at the European Film Market.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\">Starring&nbsp;Gary Ploski (<em>Being Michael Madsen<\/em>) and Emily Morse (<em>Time&#8217;s Up<\/em>), <em>Rising Star<\/em> follows the life of an insurance adjuster who is torn between his job and an online love interest.&nbsp;Michael Barra (<em>The Amazing Spider-Man<\/em>), Greg Nutcher (<em>Labor Day<\/em>), Luz Ramos (<em>The Invention of Lying<\/em>), Julia Frisoli (<em>College Road Trip<\/em>) and Gary Craig (<em>Curb Your Enthusiasm<\/em>) also appear in the movie, which made its world debut at the Seattle True Independent Film Festival in the spring.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small\"><em><font face=\"Verdana\" class=\"Apple-style-span\">Rising Star<\/font><\/em><font face=\"Verdana\" class=\"Apple-style-span\">&nbsp;was&nbsp;<\/font><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-family: Verdana\">written and directed by Marty Lang,<\/span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-family: Verdana\">&nbsp;who also co-produced alongside Ploski and&nbsp;Matthew Giovannucci. It wa<\/span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-family: Verdana\">s filmed on location in Hartford, Connecticut. The crew was comprised of graduates of the Connecticut Film Industry Training Program (FITP), which was created by Lang.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small\"><font face=\"Verdana\" class=\"Apple-style-span\">&quot;We&#8217;re beyond thrilled that Content is partnering with us to get <em>Rising Star<\/em> out into the world,&quot; remarked Lang. &quot;This has been a labor of love for all of us, and we&#8217;re excited that moviegoers will get to see Hartford, Connecticut, the insurance capitol of the world, in a way they&#8217;ve never seen before.&quot;<\/font><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small\"><font face=\"Verdana\" class=\"Apple-style-span\">&quot;We wouldn&#8217;t have been able to make this film without the energy and excitement of our FITP graduates,&quot; Lang added. &quot;For many of them, <em>Rising Star<\/em> was their first feature film, and they&#8217;ve used this experience to kick off careers in the film industry.
