{"id":4272,"date":"2012-10-10T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2012-10-10T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tveurope\/2012\/10\/10\/global-screen-reports-brisk-business-at-mipcom\/"},"modified":"2012-10-10T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2012-10-10T00:00:00","slug":"global-screen-reports-brisk-business-at-mipcom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tveurope\/2012\/10\/10\/global-screen-reports-brisk-business-at-mipcom\/","title":{"rendered":"Global Screen Reports Brisk Business at MIPCOM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\">MUNICH\/CANNES: After its few first days in Cannes, Global Screen has done a number of different deals, including for long-running German series such as <em>Alarm for Cobra 11<\/em>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\">&ldquo;<\/span><\/span>A large number of sales have already been completed,&rdquo; said Marlene Fritz, the head of TV sales at Global Screen. &ldquo;We are very delighted with this success, especially in view of the fact that the overall economic situation in Europe is tough.&rdquo;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\">New seasons of the RTL action series <em>Alarm for Cobra 11 <\/em>were scooped up in the Netherlands, Turkey, Iran, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Bulgaria and Croatia. Channels in China and South Korea have show interest in the show as well. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\">The telenovela <em>Storm of Love<\/em> from pubcaster ARD has had further episodes sold into Italy, Finland and Slovakia. Global Screen also made its first-ever<em> Storm of Love <\/em>sale in Iceland, with RUV. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\">&ldquo;The high quality of German programs guarantees high ratings&mdash;in our key territories [of] Italy, France, Spain and Central and Eastern Europe, but also beyond,&rdquo; said Fritz.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\">NHK did a deal with Global Screen to bring <em>Taste the Waste<\/em> to Japan. T&amp;K will handle the theatrical, video and VOD&nbsp;release for the title as well. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\">Is1: Danger in Paradise<\/span><\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\"> sold to Italy, Bulgaria and the Baltics. Family-entertainment programs such as<em> The Wonderful Adventures of Nils<\/em> and <em>Finest Fairy Tales<\/em> also generated deals for the company. <em>The Wonderful Adventures of Nils<\/em> sold to France, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary and the CIS. <em>Finest Fairy Tales<\/em> went to French-speaking Canada, the Benelux countries, Kazakhstan, Estonia and Lithuania. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\">German TV movies were a big draw, with several package deals concluded. Italy&#8217;s RAI Cinema opted for <em>Volcano<\/em>, <em>The Jungle Girl<\/em>, <em>Darling <\/em>and <em>I&#8217;m Running Against You<\/em>, while Spain&#8217;s Antena 3 took on <em>Love at Second Sight<\/em>, <em>The Jungle Girl <\/em>and <em>Africa Mon Amour<\/em>. French Ushuaia TV&nbsp;bagged a selection of science and nature docs, including<em> Biomimicry: Inspired by Nature <\/em>and <em>Wild Pyrenees<\/em>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\">The event movie <em>The Hunt for the Amber Room<\/em> is headed to Russia, the CIS and the Czech Republic.
