LONDON: Mockumentary filmmaker Christopher Guest and Irish actor Chris O’Dowd are on board for Family Tree<\/em>, a new doc-style comedy series for BBC Two and HBO.
\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The eight-part half-hour comedy will be similar to other mockumentaries from Guest, such as This is Spinal Tap<\/em> and Best in Show<\/em>. The series will star Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids<\/em>), who plays a man trying to find himself after losing his job and coming out of a relationship. Guest and executive producer Jim Piddock will also make appearances on the show.<\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Family Tree<\/span><\/em> is being produced by Guest, Piddock and Karen Murphy. It will air on HBO in the U.S. and on BBC Two in the U.K. The series will be screened in 2013.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Chris Sussman, <\/span>BBC’s executive editor, commented:<\/span> "We are all ludicrously excited about the opportunity to work with Christopher Guest…. <\/span>He has British roots but this is his first ever project over here, and we are very pleased to have it on the BBC."<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
