MUNICH: As part of an exclusive output deal, Tele München Group (TMG) has gained access to the free-TV rights for a number of feature films, including Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit<\/em> movies, and TV series from MGM for German-speaking Europe. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The deal, which covers a five-year period, includes more than 200 highlights from the MGM library. This includes all new MGM productions with a theatrical release in Germany, with titles such as The Zookeeper<\/em>. The upcoming slate includes the new James Bond action adventure Skyfall<\/em> as well as The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey<\/em> and The Hobbit: There and Back Again<\/em>. On the TV side, titles include the MTV series Teen Wolf<\/em>. A number of key library films are also part of the pact. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Herbert Kloiber, the CEO of TMG, commented: "This agreement with MGM is a great start into 2012 for us. We are also looking forward to bringing top film & TV product from MGM to German TV audiences over the next few years."<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

"Our five-year deal with TMG marks a significant growth for MGM’s business in Europe," added Roma Khanna, the president of the television group and digital at MGM. "MGM’s strong content—including our extensive library, new releases and compelling television series—is very appealing to the global audience. We look forward to working with TMG to bring MGM’s premium entertainment to German speaking Europe."
