Channel 5 has revealed its extensive commissions for 2023, with a range of brand-new programs across genres with talent such as astronaut Tim Peake, comedian Ruby Wax, actor Ross Kemp and more.<\/p>\n
Among the new series is Tim Peake: Secrets of Our Universe<\/em>, in which Peake takes viewers on a journey into space in a mission to uncover the mysteries of the universe.<\/p>\n In the new commission Ruby Wax Castaway<\/em> (w.t.), Wax is marooned on a desert island for two episodes.<\/p>\n Kemp returns to acting after 15 years to star as a police detective in the four-part thriller Blindspot<\/em>. He is joined by Beth Alsbury, who plays a disabled woman who believes she has witnessed the prelude to a murder while monitoring the CCTV on a rough estate.<\/p>\n Jay Blades will return to his hometown\u2014London\u2019s East End\u2014to learn more about the area\u2019s history in Jay Blades: History of the East End<\/em>.<\/p>\n In Forensics: Murder Scene<\/em>, cameras follow the scientific support unit and homicide investigation team of one of the country\u2019s largest police forces, West Yorkshire Police. Each episode follows one case from investigation to 999 call and sentencing.<\/p>\n Traffic Cops: Crash Scene Investigation<\/em>, meanwhile, follows the painstaking work of the North Yorkshire Police crash investigation team, covering the entire investigation from life-saving attempts at the crash scene to the final coroner\u2019s decision as investigators try to provide answers.<\/p>\n Wife on Strike<\/em> (w.t.) sees live-in partners say \u201cenough is enough\u201d and pass over the sole running of the house to their unwilling and ill-prepared other halves.<\/p>\n In The Inheritance<\/em>, Robert James-Collier, Gaynor Faye and Jemima Rooper star as siblings who are left reeling after the unexpected death of their father, played by Larry Lamb. Secrets explode, relationships rip apart and lives are lost as they try to claw back their inheritance.<\/p>\n Other new content coming to Channel 5 this year includes a new Ben Fogle series, Endurance: Race to the Pole<\/em>; The Pet Psychic<\/em>; Challenge Anneka<\/em>; Nick Knowles into Death Valley<\/em>; The Catch<\/em>; Black Cab<\/em>; and The Good Friend<\/em>.<\/p>\n These titles join returning series such as Susan Calman\u2019s Grand Day Out<\/em>, The Yorkshire Vet<\/em>, Motorway Cops<\/em>, Cause of Death<\/em>, All Creatures Great and Small<\/em>, Dalgliesh<\/em> and The Madame Blanc Mysteries<\/em>.<\/p>\n Paramount\u2019s chief content officer for the U.K., Ben Frow, said: \u201cOur aim is to deliver an exciting, diverse and eclectic schedule of originated content for our viewers that reinforces our public service remit, whilst demonstrating how the creative and the commercial can work hand-in-hand to make exciting and rewarding television.
