For the year 2021-22, BBC Studios posted overall revenues of \u00a31.6 billion ($1.9 billion), a 30 percent gain.<\/p>\n

The commercial arm of the BBC delivered a profit of \u00a3226 million ($268.7 million), which was up 50 percent year-on-year and marked the first time its EBITDA has topped \u00a3200 million. A \u00a3135 million ($160.5 million) cash dividend is being returned to the BBC.<\/p>\n

\u201cLast year was stellar for BBC Studios, thanks to continued strong demand for our brands like Strictly<\/em>\/Dancing with the Stars<\/em>, Time<\/em>, Bluey\u00a0<\/em>and the Planet<\/em> series,” said Tom Fussell, CEO of BBC Studios. “Our creative and financial success is clear for all to see and I am so proud of our teams across the world who worked so hard to achieve this in extremely challenging conditions. With new freedom to invest, and a new commercial board, now is the time for the business to step up a gear. Despite an uncertain economic climate, we\u2019re hugely confident about the opportunities ahead: and while this investment in future growth might impact on our profits over the short term, we know that we are building a business which can play a more significant role in the future of the BBC.\u201d<\/p>\n

BBC Studios’ gains were driven by its production operations,\u00a0which were up 56 percent, and ad gains at UKTV. Content sales rose to more than \u00a3400 million ($475.3 million).
