Henpocalypse!<\/em>, a brand-new comedy series produced by Various Artists Limited (I May Destroy You<\/em>, Sally4Ever<\/em>, Dead Pixels<\/em>) has been commissioned for BBC Two and BBC iPlayer.<\/p>\n

Written by Caroline Moran (Hullraisers<\/em>, Raised by Wolves<\/em>), the 6×30-minute series tells the story of a hen weekend that goes horribly wrong through the eyes of five women. When bridezilla Zara\u2019s hen-do is interrupted by the end of the world, she and her fellow working-class mates wait out the breakdown of human civilization in an isolated holiday cottage in Wales.<\/p>\n

When they emerge from quarantine, they\u2019ll find a harsh new post-apocalyptic world in which the male population has almost entirely wiped out. Britain is now a hellscape in which only the very fittest will survive.<\/p>\n

Filming begins on Henpocalypse!<\/em>\u00a0in early 2023, with casting set to be announced in due course.<\/p>\n

Moran said: \u201cI can\u2019t bloody believe I am getting to make a sitcom for BBC Two! That\u2019s pretty much all I\u2019ve ever wanted in life. The nation is now officially invited to our never-ending post-apocalyptic hen do. I guarantee high drama, tons of jokes, massive surprises and lots of penis-themed pound shop tat!\u201d<\/p>\n

Tanya Qureshi, head of comedy at the BBC, said: \u201cWhat could be more hilariously nightmarish than a hen do that never ends?! Caroline has created a very funny show with an incredible collection of women at the heart of it. We\u2019re incredibly excited to bring Henpocalypse!<\/em> to BBC Two and BBC iPlayer viewers later next year.\u201d<\/p>\n
