{"id":11816,"date":"2022-04-22T09:00:43","date_gmt":"2022-04-22T13:00:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tveurope\/worldscreen.com\/"},"modified":"2022-04-22T09:15:03","modified_gmt":"2022-04-22T13:15:03","slug":"almas-not-normal-renewed-for-second-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tveurope\/2022\/04\/22\/almas-not-normal-renewed-for-second-season\/","title":{"rendered":"Alma\u2019s Not Normal Renewed for Second Season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BBC Two has ordered a second season of the award-winning comedy series <em>Alma\u2019s Not Normal<\/em>, created, written and executive produced by Sophie Willan.<\/p>\n<p>The Expectation-produced series centers on Alma Nuthall, played by Willan, and her family of eccentric, unruly women. It celebrates women dealing with the hands they&#8217;ve been dealt while still doggedly pursuing their dreams.<\/p>\n<p>Willan and the series have been recognized by four national awards and were nominated for three categories in the upcoming BAFTAs. In 2021, Willan won the BAFTA for Best Comedy Writer for the pilot.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been overwhelmed by the response to the show\u2014people seem to really love and relate to the Nuthalls, which means a lot, and to get the chance to continue that story is beyond what I could have hoped for,\u201d Willan said. \u201cThat, on the back of the awards we\u2019ve received, is a bit mind-blowing if I\u2019m honest. To be recognised by BAFTA, Broadcast Awards, the Royal Television Society, peers and our audience in such a way is a real honor. I\u2019m thrilled to get back in the writing room to see where Alma\u2019s journey takes us next.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nerys Evans, executive producer and Expectation\u2019s creative director of scripted, said, \u201cSophie Willan is one of the most naturally gifted comedy writers I\u2019ve had the pleasure of working with. It\u2019s been so wonderful seeing the response to <em>Alma\u2019s Not Normal<\/em>. Viewers have connected so instantly to Sophie\u2019s characters.
