BBC Studios Showcase will again be fully digital in 2022, with a three-day program of virtual events from February 28 to March 2.<\/p>\n
Paul Dempsey, president of global distribution at BBC Studios, said: “We\u2019re proud that BBC Studios Showcase has made the U.K. a key destination for the world\u2019s content buyers, but the pandemic has accelerated changes in the way we can help them discover our shows. Their terrific response to our virtual Showcase earlier this year, coupled with continued uncertainty around international travel means that we will once again bring our content to customers digitally next February. Of course, there\u2019s nothing like meeting face to face and we are very much looking forward to the time when we can get together again.”<\/p>\n
The invitation-only event will offer buyers the chance to meet and hear from program-makers and key commissioners about their very latest projects. BBC Studios Showcase will feature production panels offering insights into the making of the newest shows as well as the chance to see the very latest footage, straight from the cutting room as well as full-length screenings and new promos. There will be thousands of hours of British content available to screen, as well as the chance for co-pro and finance partners to hear about a range of new projects at very early stages of development.<\/p>\n
New shows premiering at BBC Studios Showcase include The Following Events are Based on a Pack of Lies<\/em>, created and written by Penelope Skinner and Ginny Skinner who also serve as executive producers, and produced by Sister (Chernobyl<\/em>, This is Going to Hurt<\/em>) for BBC One. Frozen Planet II<\/em>\u00a0returns to tell the story of life\u2014not just in the Poles, but in the entire frozen quarter of the planet. Blue Lights<\/em> is a six-part original police drama created by the writers of The Salisbury Poisonings<\/em>, Adam Patterson and Declan Lawn.
