The Manchester-based indie Salamanda Media has received investment from Channel 4\u2019s Indie Growth Fund.<\/p>\n
Led by Sally Evans and Amanda De Freitas, Salamanda has developed and delivered shows for the BBC, ITV and Channel 4.<\/p>\n
Evans has for over a decade executive produced a raft of talent-led factual and factual-entertainment shows, including Gino\u2019s Italian Express<\/em>, Fierce With Steve Backshall<\/em>, Coastal Lives With Robson Green<\/em> and the Michael Apted series 63Up<\/em>. Original commissions include Last Laugh in Vegas<\/em>, Absolutely India: Mancs to Mumbai<\/em>\u00a0and Embarrassing Pets<\/em>.<\/p>\n De Freitas is an accomplished series producer and former BBC Studios development executive. She has worked on entertainment shows such as I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!<\/em>, Andrew Lloyd Webber\u2019s I\u2019d Do Anything<\/em>\u00a0and Somewhere Over The Rainbow<\/em>, All Star Family Fortunes<\/em>, Dancing on Ice<\/em>, Coach Trip<\/em> and The National Lottery Jet Set<\/em>.<\/p>\n Caroline Murphy, head of Channel 4\u2019s Indie Growth Fund, said: \u201cSalamanda Media is a really exciting new company run by two fantastically creative women who have an incredible wealth of experience in delivering top quality content.<\/p>\n \u201cHaving started Salamanda Media during the pandemic, Amanda and Sally are already working on some very exciting projects and have won two commissions.\u00a0 I\u2019m delighted they\u2019ve joined the Indie Growth Fund\u2019s portfolio of dynamic companies.\u201d<\/p>\n Evans said: \u201cWhen the odds really should have been against us, we\u2019ve accomplished an extraordinary first year and we\u2019re now absolutely thrilled to be joining the Channel 4 Growth Fund.
