In an effort to amplify diverse British voices in front of and behind the camera, Netflix is investing \u00a3350,000 in scholarships and training programs for underrepresented youth in the U.K.<\/p>\n
The investment will see Netflix support 30 full, year-long scholarships for students from Identity School of Acting. It will also double the number of young people Million Youth Media work with across the U.K. The plan is also to assist Help Mama Youth to expand its work and train more young people so they are better prepared for broadcast and media jobs.<\/p>\n
This is part of the $5 million fund Netflix created in July 2020 to create opportunities for Black creators and youth. It follows the launch of our recently announced U.K. Documentary Talent Fund.<\/p>\n
“Our members come from all across the U.K., and all around the world,” said Anne Mensah, VP of U.K. original series. “We succeed when our series and films like Sex Education<\/em>, His House<\/em>\u00a0and Top Boy<\/em> not only entertain people but also help them connect to new voices, cultures and perspectives.
