{"id":10486,"date":"2020-09-07T09:11:26","date_gmt":"2020-09-07T13:11:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tveurope\/french-audiovisual-exports-rise-18-percent\/"},"modified":"2020-09-08T09:05:23","modified_gmt":"2020-09-08T13:05:23","slug":"french-audiovisual-exports-rise-18-percent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tveurope\/2020\/09\/07\/french-audiovisual-exports-rise-18-percent\/","title":{"rendered":"French Audiovisual Exports Rise 18 Percent"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Revenues from the export of French content rose by 18 percent in 2019 to reach \u20ac325.3 million ($384.6 million).<\/p>\n<p>The figures were released as part of the 26th edition of Rendez-Vous Bi@rritz by the Centre national du cin\u00e9ma et de l\u2019image anim\u00e9e (CNC) and TV France International.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, sales of French audiovisual program abroad gained 12.8 percent to \u20ac195.6 million ($231.2 million), while presales were up 7.6 percent and co-pros 44 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Animation dominated at 40 percent of sales, rising 12.1 percent to \u20ac77.4 million ($91.5 million). Docs were up 44 percent to \u20ac44 million ($52 million), a new record for the sector. Drama slipped by 6 percent to \u20ac46.4 million ($54.8 million) but remains the second-biggest genre for exports from France.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can but be satisfied by these results which put us back on the track to growth and confirm out empirical observation of an increased appetite around the world for French programs,\u201d said Herv\u00e9 Michel, the president of TV France International. \u201cAt a time when consumption of content is stronger than ever everywhere, and on all devices, the audiovisual\u2014if we need reminding\u2014is a major asset in soft power and international competition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven though 2019 was a good year for exports of our productions, the pandemic hit the whole industry very hard,\u201d added\u00a0Dominique Boutonnat, president of the CNC. \u201cWe have taken exceptional emergency measures to help the sector and support our sales companies. The time has now come to get things started again, and exports and international activity are essential elements of this.
