SPI International Scores NBCU Features

CANNES: SPI International has licensed a slew of titles from NBCUniversal for its FilmBox Premium movie channel in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, among them Fast and Furious 6.

Nearly 100 titles are coming to SPI through the deal, including first-run features. The slate includes 47 Ronin, with Keanu Reeves; All Is Lost, starring Robert Redford; and the animated comedy Despicable Me 2. The movies Identity Thief, Oblivion, Notting Hill, Apollo 13 and Liar Liar are also headed to FilmBox Premium through the agreement.

Additionally, SPI has unveiled the launch of its first linear Ultra HD TV channel, 4K FunBox UHD.

“4K content is one of our highest priorities for future development,” said Berk Uziyel, the executive director of Filmbox International. “Our new Ultra HD library will initially offer very diverse content such as visually stunning nature documentaries, breathtaking videos of the San Francisco skyline and eye-popping CG animations.”
