LONDON: Damian Kavanagh has left his post as the controller of CBBC to head up features and factual formats at Channel 4.

In the new role at Channel, Kavanagh will manage all programming across factual entertainment, features and daytime. He succeeds Sue Murphy, who left in December last year to become U.K. creative director of the production company behind Gordon Ramsay’s Channel 4 shows.

He said: "I’m delighted to be joining Channel 4 at this exciting time. There’s a lot of creative renewal already under way and I’m absolutely passionate about commissioning innovative and talked-about programs. I can’t wait to get stuck in."

Jay Hunt, the chief creative officer, added: "Damian has a great track record creatively and is an inspiring leader. He also has a knack for being able to translate great audience insight into unmissable shows and this makes him an invaluable addition to an already strong team."
