{"id":9644,"date":"2018-06-26T01:06:43","date_gmt":"2018-06-26T05:06:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/worldscreen.com\/"},"modified":"2018-06-26T11:25:44","modified_gmt":"2018-06-26T15:25:44","slug":"the-forge-taps-former-c4-drama-head","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/the-forge-taps-former-c4-drama-head\/","title":{"rendered":"The Forge Taps Former C4 Drama Head"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Beth Willis, formerly the head of drama at Channel 4, is joining the production company The Forge as a partner.<\/p>\n<p>Willis was appointed head of drama in June 2016 after having joined Channel 4 as deputy head of drama in 2012.\u00a0She\u00a0is credited with commissioning\u00a0a range of hits, including\u00a0<em>Kiri<\/em>, <em>The End of the F****** World<\/em>, <em>National\u00a0Treasure<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Humans<\/em>, <em>The State<\/em>, <em>Ackley Bridge<\/em>,\u00a0<em>No Offence<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Born to Kill\u00a0<\/em>and <em>We\u2019re Going on a Bear Hunt<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The Forge\u2019s founder and managing director, George Faber,\u00a0said:\u00a0\u201cBeth\u2019s track record speaks for itself. Working with both new and established writers, she\u2019s rapidly built a formidable reputation for commissioning outstanding, high-quality drama. I\u2019m thrilled she\u2019s chosen to join us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Willis added:\u00a0\u2018The last six years at Channel 4 have truly been a privilege\u2014I will miss the people\u00a0and\u00a0culture enormously\u2014it\u2019s a very special place.\u00a0But when\u00a0George Faber\u00a0asked me to join\u00a0The\u00a0Forge\u2014the chance to work with a group of people whose attitude, instincts and\u00a0achievements are\u00a0pretty awe inspiring\u2014it was an offer I couldn\u2019t refuse.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ian Katz, director of programs at Channel 4, said: \u201cBeth Willis has been an inspirational head of drama, shaping the channel\u2019s diverse and award-winning slate with impeccable taste and an unerring eye for how to tell a compelling story.
