{"id":9000,"date":"2018-02-13T09:52:46","date_gmt":"2018-02-13T14:52:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/carnival-films-adapting-awkward-age-bbc\/"},"modified":"2018-02-13T11:15:43","modified_gmt":"2018-02-13T16:15:43","slug":"carnival-films-adapting-the-awkward-age-for-the-bbc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/carnival-films-adapting-the-awkward-age-for-the-bbc\/","title":{"rendered":"Carnival Films Adapting The Awkward Age for the BBC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Carnival Films has secured the rights to develop the novel <em>The Awkward Age<\/em>, which is being adapted for the BBC.<\/p>\n<p>The adaptation will be written by Helen Edmundson (<em>Mary Magdalene<\/em>, <em>An Inspector Calls<\/em>, <em>The Suspicions of Mr Whicher<\/em>). <em>The Awkward Age<\/em>, the new novel by award-winning author Francesca Segal, is a multi-generational drama that explores what happens when a widow unexpectedly falls in love with an American divorcee and they attempt to bring their families together.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Awkward Age<\/em> will be executive produced by Carnival\u2019s Gareth Neame, Nigel Marchant and Joanna Strevens, with Tara Cook as development producer. NBCUniversal International Distribution will distribute the series worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>Neame said: &#8220;Francesca Segal\u2019s <em>The Awkward Age<\/em> is an extraordinary work in its sensitivity, honesty and ability to explore the many aspects of these deeply authentic characters.
