Martin&#8217;s novella and the 1987 film of the same name, with Netflix on board to co-produce.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Game of Thrones<\/em> author will serve as an executive producer. Jeff Buhler (<em>Jacob&#8217;s Ladder<\/em>) wrote the adaptation for TV and will executive produce alongside Daniel Cerone (<em>The Blacklist<\/em>), who will also serve as showrunner.\u00a0Netflix will have first-run rights for the series outside of the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>Produced by Universal Cable Productions, <em>Nightflyers<\/em> follows eight maverick scientists and a powerful telepath who embark on an expedition to the edge of our solar system aboard The Nightflyer in the hope of making contact with alien life. When terrifying and violent events begin to take place, they start to question each other.<\/p>\n<p>Robert Jaffe (1987&#8217;s <em>Nightflyers<\/em>) will produce. Andrew McCarthy (<em>Orange Is the New Black<\/em>) will be a producer\/director on the project. Mike Cahill (<em>I Origin<\/em>) will direct the pilot.<\/p>\n<p>Gretchen Mol (<em>Boardwalk Empire<\/em>) is set to star, alongside Eoin Macken (<em>The Night Shift<\/em>), David Ajala (<em>Fast &amp; Furious 6<\/em>), Sam Strike (<em>EastEnders<\/em>), Maya Eshet (<em>Teen Wolf<\/em>), Angus Sampson (<em>Fargo<\/em>), Jodie Turner-Smith (<em>The Last Ship<\/em>) and Br\u00edan F.
