The final season of the hit Scandinavian drama The Bridge<\/em> is scheduled to air in the U.K. on BBC Two.<\/p>\n

The Swedish- and Danish-language drama will launch on the BBC in 2018. The series, which was acquired from ZDF Enterprises, marked BBC Four\u2019s highest-ever rating drama and now moves to BBC Two for its final run.<\/p>\n

The Bridge<\/em> is a Scandinavian co-production, produced in Sweden by Filmlance International, part of Endemol Shine Group, and in Denmark by Nimbus Film. It has been adapted in six territories, including the U.K., U.S. and France.<\/p>\n

For the final season, Sofia Helin and Thure Lindhart reprise their roles as Saga and her innately talented Danish partner Henrik, respectively. The concluding case tests their special relationship to its limits both professionally and personally.<\/p>\n

Anders Landstrom, producer of The Bridge<\/em>, said: \u201cIt is obviously very sad to say goodbye to Saga after four incredible seasons, but our talented writers, Hans and Camilla have an extraordinary end in store for viewers. Sofia has played the role of Saga with a rawness and truth rarely seen on screen and it\u2019s been a pleasure to work with her, and Thure on a series of which we are immensely proud.\u201d<\/p>\n

Writers Hans Rosenfeldt and Camilla Ahlgren said: \u201cWe\u2019ve been on an amazing journey with Saga Nor\u00e9n and Henrik Sabroe and felt that there was one last thrilling story to tell. Set two years on from last series, Saga is coming to terms with the dire consequences of being accused of her mother\u2019s murder when a macabre crime seemingly linked to migration takes place. Meanwhile, Henrik continues his desperate search for his children.”<\/p>\n

Patrick Holland, the channel controller of BBC Two, added: \u201cIt is great to see this fantastic series back and on BBC Two. The Bridge<\/em> has helped redefine television drama in recent years and it is fitting that its final series will be showcased on BBC Two.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sue Deeks, the head of BBC program acquisition, commented: \u201cIt is bittersweet to welcome The Bridge<\/em> back for the last time, but I know that the incredibly talented cast and production team will ensure that the series ends on a high, as befits one of the greatest TV dramas ever.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lars Blomgren, the chairman of Endemol Shine Group’s Scripted Exchange and co-founder and managing director of Filmlance International, said: \u201cI\u2019m incredibly proud of how Bron<\/em> (The Bridge<\/em>) has captured the imagination of audiences worldwide.
