{"id":8623,"date":"2017-11-20T08:00:45","date_gmt":"2017-11-20T13:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/worldscreen.com\/"},"modified":"2017-11-20T15:28:30","modified_gmt":"2017-11-20T20:28:30","slug":"nashville-to-end-with-sixth-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/nashville-to-end-with-sixth-season\/","title":{"rendered":"Nashville to End with Sixth Season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The sixth season of <em>Nashville<\/em>, which ran for four seasons on ABC before moving to CMT, will be its last.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll of us on <em>Nashville<\/em> are so incredibly grateful to the show&#8217;s fans, who convinced CMT to give us a chance to keep telling the story of these remarkable characters,\u201d said Marshall Herskovitz, who executive produces alongside Ed\u00a0Zwick, Steve Buchanan and Callie\u00a0Khouri, the creator of the series. \u201cAnd we want to return the favor with a final season that celebrates all the joys and passions, twists and turns\u2014and amazing music!\u2014that made <em>Nashville<\/em> such an exciting journey for the last six years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The sixth and final season will air in two batches, with the first half premiering January 4, 2018, and the rest set to debut in the summer. The drama is\u00a0produced by Lionsgate and Opry Entertainment and has been licensed to 200-plus territories. It is the highest-rated show on CMT history, averaging 2.1 million weekly viewers. Hulu airs the episodes the day after the CMT broadcast.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter more than 120 episodes of unforgettable television, we believe that creatively it is time for the series to come to its triumphant close at the end of the upcoming season,&#8221; said Kevin Beggs, chairman of the Lionsgate Television Group. &#8220;We\u2019re very proud of our incredibly talented cast and crew, the creative brilliance of our showrunners, and the loyal support of our great partners at CMT, Hulu and ABC Studios.
