Gunpowder<\/em>, a thriller based on the real-life 17th century events that led to Guy Fawkes Day, has been picked up by HBO for a December premiere.<\/p>\n

The three-parter will debut in the U.S. on December 18 at 10 p.m., with the subsequent parts coming December 19 and 20. It is produced by Kudos (part of Endemol Shine Group) in association with Thriker Films, originally for BBC One.<\/p>\n

Kit Harington (Game of Thrones<\/em>) stars in the series and is also a co-executive producer. He plays Robert Catesby, who was the driving force behind the Gunpowder Plot in 1605 London. Peter Mullan (Quarry<\/em>), Mark Gatiss (Sherlock<\/em>) and Liv Tyler (The Leftovers<\/em>) co-star in the miniseries, which is written by Ronan Bennett (Top Boy<\/em>) and directed by J Blakeson (The Disappearance of Alice Creed<\/em>).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
