{"id":8484,"date":"2017-10-18T03:31:10","date_gmt":"2017-10-18T07:31:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/multi-country-co-pro-pact-farewell-shanghai\/"},"modified":"2017-10-18T11:25:36","modified_gmt":"2017-10-18T15:25:36","slug":"multi-country-co-pro-pact-for-farewell-shanghai","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/multi-country-co-pro-pact-for-farewell-shanghai\/","title":{"rendered":"Multi-Country Co-Pro Pact for Farewell Shanghai"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Producers and broadcasters from China, France, Germany and Australia have aligned for the international scripted series <em>Farewell Shanghai<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The drama has been developed by screenwriter and director Radu Mihaileanu (<em>The Concert<\/em>, <em>The Source<\/em>, <em>Live &amp; Become<\/em>, <em>Train of Life\u2026<\/em>) and is adapted from Angel Wagenstein&#8217;s epic novel. The series recounts the shared destinies of a group of European Jewish refugees and Chinese characters in Shanghai, between 1938 and 1945.<\/p>\n<p>The series will be shot in China in English by K\u2019ien Productions, Banijay Studios France, Breakout Films and France T\u00e9l\u00e9visions (France); Shanghai Media Group Pictures and Holy Mountain Films (China); AMPCO Studios (Australia) and NDF (Germany). An extended Chinese version of the series will also be produced for the Chinese market.<\/p>\n<p>Takis Candilis, the head of fiction at Banijay Group, commented, \u201cWe are extremely pleased to be partnering with such an illustrious alliance of talent and producers to recreate this mesmerizing story for the screen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wendy Xioalan Zhan, CEO of Holy Mountain Pictures, added, \u201cThis is real history; we hope through the series, which will be filmed entirely in China, everyone will get to know this epic period.
